Thanks, I need to repack the wheel bearings in the horse trailer and wasn’t sure what the torque was, now I know there isn’t necessarily one
nice vid…ty
No torque on the spindle nut. Simply tighten the nut so that it is tight enough to seat the bearings into their races (not too tight!) and then back off the nut so you can get the cotter pin through the spindle and secure. Check for play in the hub.
As far wheel torque goes, I always torque tire lugs to manufacturer specs (90 ft lbs for my trailer) and re-check the torque every 400 miles or so.
I appreciate the support!!
From 2:50 to 3:50: To get the pin out: once you can grab it with the pliers, hit the *pliers* with the hammer, not the tip of the pin. So the pin won’t bend, you can hit as hard as the pliers will hold, and the pin will come right off. 🙂
you can alway use wire cutters to grab the cotter pin, and you will get it out a lot easier.
Drive the seal and bearing out from the other side. Is your vise mounted on a card table?
